Provides information on accommodation, attractions, schedules etc. for Boracay and nearby islands.

 

Visa Services: Available at Bureau of Immigration Philippines (BOIP) behind D’Mall on main road. Visa extensions require passport and photocopies there of, showing personal data, visa and entry stamps.

Money: Coins come in denominations of 5, 10, or 25 centavos (cents) and 1, 5 and 10 Pesos. Bills: 10, 20, 50, 100, 200, 500 and 1000 Pesos. Banks open Mon. – Fri. 9 am – 4 pm.

Philippine pesos (PHP) have averaged in 2010 and 2011 around 43 PHP to the USD and 60 PHP to the Euro, fluctuating often but not wildly, generally in a range of +/- 5%.

Major currencies can be exchanged at banks, official exchange shops and some hotels. Traveler checks in USD are still accepted at many bigger hotels, shops and restaurants in Boracay.
Major credit cards and debit cards are widely accepted and ATMs at banks like Metrobank, Allied Bank and Bank of the Philippine Islands will give out local currency.
There are also some ATMs in D’Mall. There is heavy usage by both locals and tourists for the few ATMs, so expect long lines especially at paydays and weekends when the machines often run out of cash. Note that not all ATMs take all credit cards and transactions are usually limited to 4000 or 5000 pesos.

Electricity: is usually 220 volts but bigger hotels will often have 110 volts as well.

Post and telephone: Philippine Country Code: +63, Boracay area code: 036. Small post office at Balabag Plaza for postcards and letters, no packages! Stamped post can also be mailed from the Boracay Tourist Center in Manggayad where national and international calls can also be made. Addition phone services available at Pantelco in Balabag, RCPI office in Angol and there are some phone booths along Boracay beach path that require a card available in many shops.

Internet: Broadband available from 2 servers. There are many internet cafes between boat stations 1 and 3, many resorts also have internet, some offer Wi-Fi.
