Buruanga

Buruanga is a small town of about 16500 inhabitants in the province of Aklan / Philippines. By bus, car or motorcycle it is around an hour away from Caticlan. The road to get there through the mountains leads you throuh some great sceneries and landscapes.

Buruanga Philippines

Buruanga is a very tidy, well kept and clean fishing place. It is not really known amongst tourist and can be concidered to be “off the beaten trail”.

A stroll through the small town gives you the impression to be in a “real” Philippino place.

Buruanga “off the beaten trail”.

Nothing there is made to please a tourist. It is – like it is. People there are friendly and, not like in some other places, that have set their minds to the “tourist melking” business only out on making a quick buck.

We were shown around the elementary school by an obviously proud director. We could have a glimpse into a clasroom and were impressed by the friendlyness of the students as well as the tidyness of the campus.

For sailors (like us) it is a great goal to achieve in a day sailing excoursion. The “Misty Morning” offers a ride throughpartly blue water. To get there and back, inclusive an excellent lunch at Thelma’s restaurant takes from around 9am (Departure Boracay) to four in the afternoon.
